I ordered three books from a member last week. Today instead of receiving all three books, I only received one of the books. How do I handle this? Do I mark the one received and then pm the member. What is the best message I could send her without being called a liar? She marked all of the three books as mailed on August 2nd.

Maybe she sent them separately?  Was there DC so you can track the other 2?  I would probably mark the 1 received and give it some time.

If this was a basic FIFO, you can mark the one received without marking the other two received.  Maybe pm the sender to see if she mailed them seperately, or give it more time and see what shows up in the next couple days.

Are you sure all 3 books are still showing as coming from teh same person. If they were all ordered for credits-they may not all be coming from her. If she cancelled one or two of them for some reason or you ordered them from teh book description page then they could be coming from other people.  She may have noticed 1 or 2 were unpostable when you ordered and so cancelled the request and it was passed on to other people.

Or it's possible that she wrapped 2 of them up and then noticed the other one and decided it was easier just send them out seperately.

If it's a deal that you are talking about then there's not much you can do but PM and her ask where your freebies are.   You can report it to PBS if she didn't honor a deal and they will send a warning to her.

I've ordered before from the book page rather than the order more from page.  Which means it goes to the next FIFO rather than in a group.  I have to be careful when browsing those bookshelves.  Too often I want to read the reviews before ordering and don't go back far enough.  Which ends up with the book timing out as the order goes through people.

You can click on the PM button under your account to check that the orders all went to one person.

this is where checking the Club communications tab on your Account Page is helpful.  When a book is cancelled and moves on to another person, you get a PM and I check that tab every day.  Just yesterday I got this:

  Dear RUTH ,

We wanted to let you know that the book you requested on 7/31/2009 '" Such and such" book by some author cannot be mailed.

We checked our database and found that there are no other copies of the book available at this time. Credit has been returned to your account for this request, and the book has been added to your Wish List. If this was a Wish Listed book originally, you have gone back to your previous place in the Wish List queue for the book.

Once again, thank you for using PaperBackSwap.com.

THIS IS AN AUTOMATED EMAIL. REPLIES TO THIS EMAIL ARE NOT READ. PLEASE USE THE CONTACT US LINK ON THE PAPERBACKSWAP SITE FOR ALL COMMUNICATION.

And it's nice to keep on top of things.  It doesn't help if you didn't order all from the same person, however.

Ruth

Here are the details:

1. All three books are in sucession on my 'Enroute to Me" file. All three are from the same person (checked and rechecked by me).

2. I ordered one book FIFO and this member came up. Then I clicked the 'order more from member' and ordered the other two books from her. This all happened right away, no going back later.

3. These are the details on the 'Enroute to Me' page about "all three books"(a minute or two difference between the three).

           Request Date: 8/1/09 1:28 p.m.

           Will Mail by Date: 8/5/09 11:00 p.m.

           Label Print Date: 8/1/09 2:42 p.m.

           Date Mailed: 8/2/09 2:52 p.m.

I checked the Club Communications again. I like to check that every day. Anyway, the only thing it shows is that all three books were mailed at the same time.

Hope this helps to clarify the situation. Thanks for all your help and advice. Please keep it coming!

Maybe they mailed them in smaller groups to keep them under 13 oz?  I can understand trying to avoid the PO lines.

Sounds to me like they were listed to her as a bulk order with only one [print label] and [book has been mailed] button for all. Then she promptly wrapped one book and sent it. Or sent all 3 and the PO lost 2 and resealed the package.  Mark the book you received as such and leave other two out In Route. Then PM the sender and let her know that only one book was in the package and did she forget the other two or mix up requests and include them in someone else's package. Might not be a liar, just mixed something up.

After marking the one book as received, I pmed the member and stated what Melanie wrote. Thanks, Melanie. Now I will wait and see what she says.

As for the 'liar' part , I meant I'm hoping she won't call me a liar, not me calling her that.

I recently ordered three books from the same member. They all came in, wrapped and shipped separately. She did use stamps so perhaps it was so she could just stick them in her mailbox and not have to go to the PO.(That is the main reason I use PBS postage)

Thanks Debra, I'm thinking she could have done that very thing. I still haven't heard from her. Hopefully, the other two will come soon. Funny thing is, she lives in a town that is only about 15 to 20 minutes away from my house!

If there's a "minute or two difference" on the time stamps, that means she split the bulk order and marked each book mailed separately. If she had printed only one wrapper and marked all three books mailed with a single click, then they'd all have the same timestamps.
