can i use the first class forever stamps for sending the books media mail?  are they worth 44cents each on the mail?

Forever stamps go up as the postage goes up so if you bought them when it was 42cents and now the price of postage is 44cents then those stamps you bought are now worth 44cents each and if the price were to go up again they would still be worth the price of one postage stamp.

Yes, Forever stamps are now considered 44 cents each.

And yes you can use them to send books media mail.  Just remember that if the book is over 13 ounces, it will need to be handed to a postal worker, not just put in the blue box, or your mail box.
