I just printed my label to send book tapes and it came out with First Class instead of Media Mail. Is this a change I missed??? |

Anything under (I think) 13 ounces will print out as first class because it is actually cheaper to send it that way. So, that's probably why that happened. |

It's not always accurate, especially if you are sending a 2-for-1 deal or something--I just cut off the first class part when I stick it to the package and tell the post office I want it media mail. I've done it the opposite way a couple of times too. :) |

Lisa, sorry to contradict you, but it is anything under seven ounces that is cheaper sending first class. From 5.1 to 6.0 ounces costs $1.98 first class. From 6.1 to 7.0 ounces, it costs $2.15 to send first class. Basically, only 2cents more than media mail. 7.1 ounces to 1 pound is $2.13. If your package is over 13 ounces (and you have put your own stamps on the package), you MUST bring it to a post office.

Thanks for the correction, Deb! So many different numbers to remember. I knew the number 13 was significant for some reaon...but as Deb said, it's actually 7. Sorry for any confusion. Last Edited on: 12/28/07 2:56 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

You can change the weight of the book on the screen for printing labels... to bump it over the weight so that the label shows Media Mail. |

It'll also use 1st class if it's only a few cents more than MM. I've had many come up as 1st class at 2.15 as opposed to 2:13 media mail. |
