I should've read the reviews more carefully. This has less to do with our earliest ancestors and more to do with "the race to discover" them. That's not a bad thing if you're interested in the scientific process (and it's quite interesting, as paleoanthropology seems rife with internecine feuding). If you're into the history of science, check it out.
