Hi, I hope this is the correct forum.

A g/f of mine and I take each other to lunch every March (well, other times too, but this is a special lunch).  Our birthdays are always busy (mine is over a holiday, her's is during the summer, when the kiddos are at home).  Fall is the start of school, winter brings relatives to visit, etc, etc.  So a few years ago we randomly choose the first week of March to take each other to lunch for our birthdays.  We exchange gifts, but they are gag gifts.  For instance, one year, she gave me a set of already scratched off lottery tickets - tho one was a winning ticket, but it took me a while to figure it out (ten bucks).  LOL.  I would like to give her, this year, a super steamy, full of sex, erotica book.  Any and all suggestions would really be appreciated.

Also, not trying to poke fun at erotica, I just may borrow the book from her, but I am unfamiliar with the catagory and could use some help.

Erotica publishers: Ellorascave, New Concepts Publishing, Avon Red, Aphrodesia, Black Lace (usually Brittish books), Sahmain, Loose-ID and a lot of Brava books are on the erotic side.  Ellorascave is the best for a really cheesy embarrassing cover.

I like:

Lora Leigh, Diane Whiteside, Kate Pearce, Jaci Burton, Jory Strong, Mary Wine, Anya Bast, Maya Banks, Sarah McCarty, Sydney Croft, Cheyenne McCray and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Hmmm, maybe an anthology would be a good idea so you can get a variety of authors. Also with erotica there are many many themes to look at. There's ménage, space themed, gay/bi, historical erotica, bondage, dom/sub, lions & tigers & bears haha. No really there probably is lion tiger & bear erotica. So there's a lot to weed through. My favorite handsdown author of erotica is Emma Holly. You really can't go wrong with her.

What types of books does your friend normally like to read, historicals, contemporary, sci-fi, paranormal or something else?  Erotica by itself is a big category you might need to add something besides hot, steamy sex in order to find a book.

Oh wow, thanks for the insight.  I'm so lost in this catagory.  Well, she just reads whatever is pop fiction at the time, as far as I know.  ;)

I would say she probably wouldn't even want to read anything scifi or paranormal, as none of the titles I've ever seen her with contain those themes.  Of course this is a gag gift, but truly, if she'd like to read it, I'd like it to be appealing.

I would also say, nothing gay, which is just fine, but I'm thinking, if she wants to read it with her husband, the "roles" should fit.

My guess would be something romantic and sexual.  I would like to embarass her, only because that's part of the fun of our lunch, in a fun way, we would never consider something cruel ro hurtful.  It's all in love and fun.

I think I've probably muddied the waters more than cleared anything up.  LOL.

So you probably want something with a pretty sexy cover.  Just a hot guy on the cover or a guy/girl?

So, for a contemporary non-menage, non-sci-fi, non-paranormal hot cover, my choice would be For His Eyes Only :: Avery Beck for a steamy couple cover and The Perfect Play :: Jaci Burton for a steamy guy cover.

Lora Leigh has two series with steamy covers.  The first series is the Nauti series the first book is Nauti Boy.  The second series is the Bound Heart series.  The Bound Heart series has some interesting covers.  Some of the Bound Heart books do feature BDSM if you want to stay away from that.  You could also try BIG Temptation by Robin L. Rotham.  If your friend likes cowboys there is A Tall Dark Cowboy by Mackenzie McKade.

If she likes historicals: Diane Whiteside has the Devil series.  Irish Devil is the first.  They aren't Westerns though.  Hot guy on the cover, good sex scenes but no heavy duty BDSM, gay sex or multiple partners in the 3 I read.

If she likes thriller type books you could try one of Lora Leighs Special Ops/Seal books.  Lots of steamy sex but nothing too extreme.  I've read all her Bound series books and there's lots of multiple partner sex in those.
