This is a great book for 1 - 3 yr range. Shows bright, colorful pictures of various things, people, animals, along with the words telling what each object is. Can be looked at by child alone, or with parent, to tell what things are. My 2 boys loved looking at this one, with me, or by themselves.
From School Library Journal
"PreSchool-This is the same type of early vocabulary-building title as Angela Wilkes's My First Word Book (DK, 1991), but illustrated with simple drawings outlined in thick black line on contrasting colored backgrounds. Words are arranged by topic sentences, e.g., "There is a lot to do at school." Featured words for this spread include "teacher," "chair," "backpack," and "blocks." This is a colorful book with iconographic representations of familiar figures and objects labeled with bold-typed words. An alphabetized word list with page numbers appears at the end...."

This is a friendly introduction to reading, which should to appeal to young children. For the toddler it is a "look and say" book, designed to be enjoyed with an adult and to lay the foundations for reading. For the child of four years and above, it is a vocabulary building book.
