I always felt that apocalyptic zombie based dramas were more suited to television than movies.  The movies seem to stop rather then end, and I'm always left wondering what happens to the surviving characters when their boat / helicopter / car runs out of gas after they've rode off into the sunset.  To me it seems to be a perfect genre for an ongoing series.

I guess I won't be a multimillion dollar earning TV series creator, because someone else beat me to the punch.  (oh, well)

The independent series, if it ever gets picked up by a network, is called Lifeless.

The creators have already made a pilot, and are currently shopping it around.  I can't imagine CBS or NBC picking it up (you know, flesh eating zombies and all that).  I think it would have to be more of a Showtime or HBO type series.

Anyhow, the trailer and first five minutes of the pilot look really awesome.

I think it needs to be alittle more polished and recast, but otherwise I like what I see.  Keep your fingers crossed.

WOW!

Hold on!  Just stumbled upon some new news (well, new to me).  We could possibly have TWO zombie TV shows coming out soon.  It looks like AMC just won a bidding war to get the TV rights to the popular comic book The Walking Dead

Lifeless may or may not make it to the small screen, but The Walking Dead is a done deal!

It's a good time to be a zed fan.

If you've never read TWD, I found a pdf link to issue #1 for free.  http://www.imagecomics.com/iconline.php?title=walking_dead_001&page=cover&resize=now

This is great!! I can not wait to see the Walking Dead and I really hope we see Lifeless picked up somewhere. I really like that Lifeless took a cue from the original Night of the Living Dead series and original zombie movies with the zombies. I was really irritated with the Dawn of the Dead remake that they could drive away in a car and the zombies were able to catch up with the by running at breakneck speeds on foot. Drove me nuts! Plus I always hated when it got to the end of the movie and I always wondered what happened next.

The Walking Dead premieres on AMC Halloween night!

Here's the tailer.  Enjoy.  :)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg46DWI_fCE

ETA:  [Warning before you click.]  Looks like AMC isn't pulling any punches.  The trailer is absolutely gory...  Can a zombie story be any other way?

Doesn't look any network has picked up Lifeless, but you can watch episodes1-3 on Fearnet.
