Then There Were Five Author:Elizabeth Enright This paperback book has the copy of the Enright frontispiece within a pink border, a format used for many years. The third of the Melendy series, in which the children, left on their own in the house in the country, meet a new friend.
The Melendy children find they have to care for themselves and the farm with only the hired man to help. Enright was the Newberry Award winner in 1939 and this book was a classic when I was growing up.
