"If the book is good enough for you, it's good enough for me."

Say what? That was the sum total of the RC for a book that was just requested from me. I don't get it...this RC is actually, IMO, encouraging people to send books that don't even meet PBS guidelines...how many times have we seen people post about RWAPs where the sender replied, "What's wrong with the book? There's only a little water damage on a few pages, it's very readable, I got it from someone else that way and had no problem with it, why do you?" SO...that book was obviously 'good enough for them.' One wonders what the response to receiving such a book by this person would be--it just seems like it could be inviting trouble.

That said, there shouldn't be any trouble with my book even for the most stringent RC, as the book in question was bought new by me, and I read it once...but the RC is so odd that I am still debating whether I should just decline on principle. Weird.

 That RC scares me.

See now ... I would just send.

Because I read that as someone specifically trying to say that they are not fussy.

But who knows ... I could be wrong.

I send a Pm to those request that have RC, no matter what it says. I found is a simple way to avoid possible misunderstanding.

I'd chuckle and send the book.  Obviously someone with a sense of humor and relaxed attitude about swapping.

I never PM about an RC - I either accept or decline and waste no energy on it.

So, does that mean that if you decline the RC your book isn't good enough for you?  LOL

I'd just send it. If they leave the choice of condition up to you, then then have nothing to complain about later!

I'd like to get that RC just once...I read that as "I'm not fussy" as well.

On a somewhat related note, I would like to thank some of those here who advise other members not to worry about or expend a lot of energy on RC's. When I first got here, I got bent out of shape about RC's...and then one day I was reading the message boards and saw that quite a few members had advised someone to just simply decline or accept the RC's and move on......sometimes it's so simple but you have to read it in black and white to "get" it. From that day on, I haven't worried about RC's. I either accept or decline and keep going. I had to decline one yesterday that was a bit crazy. Oh well, not my loss, as it's a wish list book for many others.

Yup, I used to feel that if I declined the RC no one would ever request the book again -- WRONG! And I used to spend so much time composing a declined RC -- these days a simple "No Thank You"  or "Too Subjective" lets me move on.

Like Cosi, I don't like to have to PM on an RC and usually will just decline when they ask me to PM them -- I've gotten hung up too many times with unresponsive members or negotiations when I just want to mail the book when I am going to the post office -- not have to make a special trip.

But the RC Spuddie got? I would accept in a heartbeat -- a refreshing change from the long, militant, threatening RCs I've been getting lately!

I think I had a book requested with that RC once (or an RC very much like it).  It made me chuckle and I sent the book. No problems...it was a good transaction.

Just in case I screw up and activate the RC, mine reads something like, "I have no special requests and if you see this, I must have hit the reader condition button by accident."

I thought that was funny too.  I'd send it.

I did reject an RC that stated "severe allergies".  The book didn't smell to me, but who knows what the receiver might think.  My thought was if your allergies are that severe, maybe a used book site isn't the best thing.

I decided to go ahead and send it...I don't really see the purpose of it, but to each their own I guess.

just had someone decline the PBS automatic RC because I'm at an APO. they simple stated "can't get to the post office" I assume it's because it needs a customs form and to be handed straight to the clerk. bummer for me, guess I'll put it on the wish list!
