My granddaughter's class had read the book and made their own Flat Stanley and journal to visit friends and relatives so his travels could be shared. I am glad I met Flat Stanley as he had been around since I was a young girl but I had never heard of him until now. You'll enjoy meeting him too. He may even like to mailed to friends and return to you with a tale or two. He would be good for home-school writing, art and geography (if you want to mail him to someone). Stanley could be a bunch of fun...

Poor Stanley is squished flat, but it leads to some exciting adventures! While this story has some vocabulary unfamiliar to today's children, they still enjoy it. Best used as a read-aloud with extension activities.

This is a very entertaining children's book that held our 7 year old's attention and kept him laughing and making comments about Flat Stanley and his brother's adventures. When a child asks, "Are there more of these?" I think it's a good book!

Everyone loves flat Stanley! Life in the flat lane. When Stanley Lambchop wakes up one morning his brother Aurther is yelling. A bulletin board fell on Stanley during the night, and now he is only half an inch thick! Amazing things begin happening to him. Stanely gets rolled up, mailed, and flown like a kite. He even gets to help catch two dangerous art thieves. He may be flat, but he's a hero!

while i never read the original, i don't think that this book was that bad. it invites the reader to use their imagination and think the immpossible. stanley gets to do many things that he wouldn't normally get to do. his brother, arthur, gets very jealous. but in the end, jealousy is forgotten as aruthur helps stanley get back to normal.
