We found "Flat Stanley" in our mailbox the other day (class project from a 1st grader in Idaho) . After getting Stanley out of his envelope I pulled our copy of the book out and read it with the boys, they enjoyed it very much and then had fun getting a couple pictures of Stanley playing in the snow to send back to the students that had started him on his journey. Stanley comes with a letter from a young boy in the class asking that you continue to send Stanley on his way (documenting on his travel log where he's been), and that you also send a post card back to the class so they can track Stanley's trip. I thought his visit might make a nice addition to a geography or reading lesson for someone else so, if you are interested in being Stanley's next stop pm me with your address... we are in OH and he's been to FL, TX and WI so far.
Thanks! |

I would love to have Flat Stanley visit me! I am a retired children's librarian who is working presently as a consultant putting together a library in a K-8 Charter School. I could bring him to the school and arrange for one of the classes to meet him, read them one of the booksand have him pose with the class. What fun for me and the kids. I miss the contact with the groups of kids. If I qualify, pm me and I will send you may address. I live in Rhode Island. Pam Last Edited on: 2/21/09 9:37 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

My cousin sent us a "Flat" version of herself when she was in school. We really went to town. I think it was the only one in her class to visit a monastery.

We did international Flat Traveller swaps our first year of HS'ing when we were doing a world-wide geography study. We hosted, and sent, FT's from ALL the continents (a teacher was on a research trip in Antarctica). There are many HS FT sites on the 'net. It's such a FUN program. I wish we still had time to commit to it! Enjoy! JC |
