Does anyone here take flaxseed?  Which do you prefer?  The actual ground flaxseeds?  The oil?  The capsules?  How much do you take a day?

I've heard so much about how it's supposed to be good for you and all of the things it can improve and was thinking of giving it a try but was curious about what others were doing.

Also have you noticed any changes since you've started taking it?  What have you noticed?

I don't "take" it, but I've sprinkled the seeds on top of yogurt, and I've used ground flax seed in a favorite whole-grain muffin recipe & also in a bread recipe. The baked goods come out a little moister & browner than usual.

I put a heaping tablespoon of ground flaxseed on my cereal every morning.  I have also replaced ground flaxseed for some of the flour in certain recipes---muffins, pancakes, meatloaf, and the like.  Usually at least 1/2 a cup.  I'm not sure I've noticed any positive health changes in particular, but I feel better incorporating it into my day, since I have read so many positive things about it.   I feel like I am doing a positive and proactive thing for my health.

There is, however, one negative thing I'll mention.  I have noticed that it does seem to stain my teeth, along the gum lines.  I noticed this especially back when I used to just chew a mouthful of flaxseeds.  That's why I switched to grinding them.  But I still try to brush soon after breakfast, to lessen the staining.  Not sure anyone else has noticed this side effect, but I have...

I have the milled Flaxseed from Arrowhead Mills and I put it in a lot of things... smoothies, casseroles, chili, spaghetti, etc.  You don't even notice it's there.

I have excema and  taking flax seed has really helped my skin. I use take 1/2 oz  of the liquid a day, but now that I'm not flaring up as much I usally take it every 3rd day.

I also  tummy trouble (IBS) and I felt that The flax seed helped that. I am no longer on a restricted diet! : )

I use ground flax seed.  I add it to my moring cereal, put it on top of my yogurt, oatmeal and in pasta sauces.  I've even substituted flax for eggs in recipes for muffins and quick breads (1 egg= 1 tbsp. flax + 3 tbsp water)   Flax is a great source of fiber. I have'nt noticed any teeth stains like some of the other members have.(but I also use a pre-brushing whitening rinse on my teeth)  Flax don't have much flavor, so you can add it to everything.  Oh, and it helps to keep you "regular" too!

I put flaxseed on my yogurt and cottage cheese. I'm hoping the flaxseed/probiotic yogurt combination will help tame my tummy troubles.
