This one was tough book for me to get throug. I barely finish it skimming over pages. I liked the Maggie's charactore but the whole story seemed all over the place.
Another wonderful book in Sherryl Woods's Low Country trilogy. This time is Maggie & Josh, two very unlikely people to fall in love. Woods has wonderful character and setting development. She draws you into her characters with seriousness and humor. You laugh and cry in just pages. If you liked this book, be sure to read the 3rd & last book "Waking Up in Charleston" or if you missed it the 1st book "The Backup Plan".
Second Novel in Charleston Trilogy
Book 1. "The Back Up Plan"
Book 2. "Flirting With Disaster"
Book 3. "Waking Up In Charleston"
You don't HAVE to read these books in order, but I would highly recommend it. Main Characters in this book originate in the first novel of the series and there is some backstory told in that book that is an excellent lead in to the reader before opening the pages of this second strory in the triology.
Maggie Forsythe is young, beautiful, educated and floundering. Her art shop is thriving, her friends are "lifers" and she comes from a family of wealth and opportunity.... but she is dirt poor when it comes to love. Having just been dumped by her fiancee just days before their huge wedding, Maggie is trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants in life. The problem is that her own dreams and desires are always clouded by what she thinks her perfect socialite parents want her to be and do. The ex? The "perfect" mate for her - at least according to her high end mom.
In order to get her back amongst the living her best friends convince her to help build a house for a young widow and her 3 children. Doing something worthwhile is surely a move in the right direction - right?! Wellllll, it would be if being a do gooder didn't include having to spend so much time with project leader/foreman Josh Parker, super hottie and all around loner brooding type.
Josh is only doing this project because he can, and yeah, the boss asked him to. Now he is stuck supervising a team of volunteers who know NOTHING about building ANYTHING. On top of that his crazy, can't stay in one place longer than 5 minutes, mother has just hit town and is determined to get in the middle of it all. And then there is Maggie - and lets just say that Josh and Maggie are an explosion waiting to happen.... the only question is whether the explosion will wild and awesome or shocking and bad.... one thing is for sure - with a town full of gossips, best friends playing match maker, a society prude of a mom and Josh's ex Vegas dancer mom around - the flirting is deffinately heading towards so kind of disaster!!!!
