A definite book for the Halo fan. This is one of the best novelizations for a video game book that I have read. This book actually tells the story of the first game, with some added backstory of all the events that were taking place elsewhere in the game. Very well written.

Both my son and I throughly enjoyed these books. We both enjoy the game also , not that I get very far in it without getting wasted. The book 'The Flood' follows the game play, more or less. While 'The Fall of Reach' is a prelude to the story of 'Master chief' the hero in the game. Both are great reads. If you like action you will like these books.

The Halo book series will really help a "Fan" of Halo to learn the story before and after Halo Combat Evolved!

The Halo books are great for those interested in the Halo story. They fill in the gaps and I found myself wanting more.

This book is based on the Xbox game Halo. It is very exciting and well written. Master Chief crash lands on an artificial and mysterious world. He thinks it is a weapon to help The Covenant, a confederation of aliens, destroy the humans but stumbles apon a more dark and sinister meaning. It has bad words in it, though not too severe.

Good Book!
I was excited when I saw the same mission I had played in the Halo game was in the book too! :D
I was hardly as proficient at defeating the covanent troops to get at the 'Silent Cartographer'.
Regardless, it was an engaging read, and I would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys the Halo Games. :D

If you like reading a real-time videogame experience, this may be the book for you. After reading The Fall of Reach, this book was a letdown. Mostly a narrative of advancing and shooting and exploding. Little character engagement. Little development of how this story fits into the larger scope of the war with the Covenant. Little-to-no exploration or evaluation of just what the Halo structure may be. Hardly an engaging story on its own, but it does fit in to the longer, more expansive Halo universe, so completists will be interested. But if you are looking for the usual space opera genre's tropes, you will be disappointed.

As the fortress world of Reach and its brave defenders were bombarded to rubble, a single cruiser fled the carnage with the battle's only human survivors - Captain Keyes, his crew of a few hundred Marins, and the last remaining SPARTAN super-soldier, the Master Chief.

With the cruiser's artificial intelligence, Cortana, concealed in his battle armor, the Master Chief crash-lands on Halo in the midst of a massive Covenant occupation. Curiously, the alien soldiers appear to be searching for something hidden on the rin. Built by a long-dead race, Halo harbors many deadly secrets, but one overshadows them all. Now the Master Chief must lead the scattered troops in a brutal race to unravel Halo's darkest mystery - and unleash its greatest source of power....

This was a great book. I thought it was even better than the first Halo novel.
