Jessica Germayne was forced by her scheming brother to marry the son of one of England's richest financiers. Her new husband, however, abandoned her the day after the wedding, leaving Jessica more alone than she had ever been.

In despair, she fled London until the long arm of her wealthy fathre-in-law reached out to interfere with her life once again. Jessica was forced to return to England to face the mistakes of her past, but this time the glittering city held out the promise of the love which had for so long eluded her.
