oatmeal is the first thing I think about when the weather gets cold. But grits can be good on cold days. probably not much nutritive value in grits but if you eat it as hot as you can stand, it stays with you a long time.

I usually put something in oatmeal. rarely eat it plain. dice an apple and cook the apple in a little water for a minute or two before putting in the oatmeal to cook. raiscin or prunes are good too. maybe a dash of cinnamon.
