Once again Whitley Striber has come out of left field with another unique look at the world.
An experiment goes wrong, opening a door to earth's very distant past and Lovecraftian creatures emerge to turn a small town into a beachhead for an invation. A small group of residents are tasked with trying to stop the menace which is tranforming everything and everyone they come into contact with.
Although few of the heroes survive their characters are well developed and believable (at least to a certain extent). The plot is straight forward and the action is non-stop.
This book is not a typacal Striber and is all the better for it's difference. Well worth the read.

I'm not a horror fan, but this was interesting. Frightening, chilling, and kind of gross, but interesting.
