Let's Learn French Picture Dictionary.  I was excited to find this book at a yard sale since it is one that I used to teach French to 7th graders, but it can be delightful for any age reader and perfect for home schoolers.

This hardcover shows an entire scene, sometimes quite comical as "In a Restaurant", then shows each individual item in the picture with its English and French names.  There are 26 detailed scenes in realistic cartoon style, from 'The Attic' to 'The Talent Show' to 'The Zoo' with lots in between!  Also included are action words, numbers, colors, shapes, etc.

Most importantly, there is a section that explains how you say the French sounds as well as pronunciation guides that will help you say each French word correctly.

It is interesting to see how similar many of the French words are to our English equivalent.  AND, this is a kids' book primarily so you can take advantage of my special detailed below!

I have a travel guide to Cuba, written in French:

Le Guide du Routard: Cuba 2003

(Sorry, travel guides are not part of my three for one deal, because of their weight.)

L'Etranger (Profile d'une Oeuvre) :: Albert Camus, Pierre-Louis Rey - this is a commentary on L'Etranger (The Stranger, by Albert Camus) which is written in French - this would be appropriate for a more advanced French student.

I have:  "Faust Und Konsorten---Roman"  by Tom Holt in German  This is a fantasy and it and a variety of his other books are quite heavily wishlisted.  (in English)  ISBN# is 3-453-09487-5.  It is paperback, somewhat larger than the standard ones, though not full "trade" size---more like some of the ones that have come out lately---supposedly to make reading easier---which I doubt.  It has 382 pages and the front cover drawing/cartoon reminds me of Monte Python's Flying Circus or Heronymous Bosch' s Medieval paintings.    I don't speak or read German---just picked it up at Goodwill or somewhere awhile ago because of the picture.

En La Ardiente Oscuridad, by Antonio Buero Vallejo

This is part of the Prentice Hall Spanish Series and was lightly used (clean, no underlining or highlighting) by my daughter in HS Spanish class.
