The Gaelic phrase translates to love of my heart. She feels a bit dizzy but returns to the alter just in time to hear her name and reply, I do. When her husband thoroughly kisses her, she knows he is not William and when she opens her eyes, she faints. Robert Cameron had never met his bride before the nuptials. He carries her up to his chamber and looks her over, intimately. He sees her strange underclothes and is very interested in making his bride his wife, but not while she is unconscious. When Meagan awakes, she has to be convinced that it is 1765 and he thinks she is crazy, especially when she tells him the truth. Robert tells her about his bride, a young Irish girl named Meagan Anne MacSorley who he intended to marry for her hefty dowry in order to help his people and to restore Thistledown Castle. But Meagan the Younger had different ideas and she runs away on her wedding day. So now Robert must find the missing bride, but he is falling in love with his temporary one . . . and she with him. The search for the young Meagan goes on as she has proved competent enough to elude them for several days. In the meantime, Robert and Meagan come to the conclusion to enjoy whatever time they have together. They have captured each others hearts and have satisfied each others needs beyond their wildest expectations, which makes it all the more difficult for Meagan to leave. She believes she must return to her own time as Robert needs the dowry and therefore can't stay married to her. William is determined to find Meagan as he is certain something dreadful has happened to her, which it has. She has several dangerous experiences such as a near rape and murder. Ironically, it is they young Meagan who finds Robert and he is able to save his Meagan while the young one escapes once again, but not for long. Convinced that her disappearance has something to do with the book, William returns to Scotland and the kirk, reciting the same line three times.
