So last month I received a request right before Christmas for a book. I mailed the book, but in the crazy hectic holiday season I forgot to mark that I mailed the book. I sent a pm to the person who was supposed to received the book a couple of days later, but she/he has never responded to my pm nor has the receiver given me credit for the book. Its been over a month sent I sent the book to the requester. What do I do now? |

Not much you can do. When you didn't mark the book mailed, it went to the next person. The receiver is under no obligation to give you a credit since she received 2 of the same books due to your mistake.

Actually, if the receiver did not respond to you, there is no telling if they received another book or not and the ONLY time they do not have to mark the book received is if they received 2 copies. I would use the Contact Us link in the lower right under Company to send in Feedback. Tell the Team the name of the book, the member you send it too and when. Tell them that the member did not respond to your PM and you were wondering if they could check the system to see if the member received to copies of the book. If the member did receive a second copy, then they are not obligated to give you a credit since it was your error and they only need to spend one credit to get a book. If the Team says they did not receive a second copy through the system, then I would send a follow up PM asking the member that they respond because they did not receive a second copy from the system, so they should be marking yours received from the Transaction Archive. How would "the team" know if the member received 2 copies? If she never marked it as mailed, there would be no way for the requester to mark it as received. |

The team could see if another copy of the book was ordered on that account and if it was marked received or not. They can also see if this person has logged on at all.

I thought the Team clarified a while back that the second book does need to come from Paperback Swap. |

If she never marked it as mailed, there would be no way for the requester to mark it as received. There is a "Was Book Received?" on each unmailed or lost transaction in your Transaction Archive. You need to use this button if you get a book that was previously lost or if you get only one copy of a book that the sender forgot to mark mailed. |

It doesn't, but the receiver still needs to communicate that to the sender. And with the sender telling the receiver within a couple of days that the book was mailed, it is less likely that the requester bought the book that quickly. Just ignoring the sender on a problem isn't an option. This is the sender's fault, but it is expected of the receiver to communicate with them.
They won't know if they received 2 copies, but they will know if a second copy was requested and marked received. If that happened, then the requester definitely meets the requirements for not having to give the second credit for the book and if were me as the sender who forgot to mark a book mailed, I would drop the issue. And, as Cathy pointed out, any transaction that has made it as far as the address being accessed will have a button on it in the Transaction Archive to mark it received in the event it is the only copy received and needs to be marked received. There are many members who are under the misconception that books not marked mailed are just free, even if they don't get another copy. And there are many members that think that because they believe their is no way to mark them received. This may be a receiver who needs follow up to point those things out. Asking the Team if they received a copy from someone else can avoid bothering someone who did get the second book, if they didn't, then you know you may want to follow up to see if they got it elsewhere or just don't understand the system. |

What Melanie said X2. As a problem (or potential problem) swap, the requester should have answered the PM. |
