This is listed as a Kindle Daily Deal and that page shows 20 books.  I found another page where there are 25 listed. (There are 2 that are $2.99).  Go here to see this list.

Fictionwise's last hurrah: Buywise club refund

Did you have an account with Fictionwise? Did you have membership in their "buywise club"?

If the answer to both is "yes", check your email for an email from "support@penchecks.com" with subject line "PenChecks Participant Distribution Notification".

It contains information and a PIN to get a refund from Pencheck for your unused Fictionwise membership. I had forgotten that this was due and very pleasantly surprised to get this email today.

Barnes & Nobles are using penchecks to distribute cheques with pro-rata refunds of the buywise club membership fees.

Introducing the Baen Free Library

Baen Books is now making available — for free — a number of its titles in electronic format. We're calling it the Baen Free Library. Anyone who wishes can read these titles online — no conditions, no strings attached. (Later we may ask for an extremely simple, name & email only, registration. ) Or, if you prefer, you can download the books in one of several formats. Again, with no conditions or strings attached. (URLs to sites which offer the readers for these format are also listed. )

Who likes Early Bird Books?  I get their emails every day.

I succumb to temptation about once a week.

There are lots of ebook emails featuring little-known books by little-known authors, but Early Bird Books often has bestsellers from several years ago, "series," etc., classics for free, everything else for $.99 to $2.99.

Some of the treasures today:  "Deer Hunting with Jesus: Dispatches from America's Class Wars" by Joe Bageant for $1.99.  "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight" by Jimmy Breslin, $1.99.  Berenstain Bear Chapter Book series (10 books) for $2.99.

I succumbed to one--"Deer Hunting With Jesus."  I'd already read it, but I need to read it again...

Everything is available in Kindle, B&N, Google, Apple, and Kobo (?)

I realize this is an old thread, but I wanted to let you all know about a place I stumbled upon a few years ago... (I have an ipad with both the ibook app and kindle app as well).

If you have Facebook please check out Deviant Ebooks - they have quite a lot of books including new releases and run sales a lot.  They also have series at a fraction of the retail cost.

I have had no issues with them getting books for either the ibook app (epub I believe) and also the kindle app.  I would assume you could ask about other formats (to the best of my knowledge they usually have (1) book available in 2-3 formats.
