A beautifully written story with very interesting characters. I carried this with me everywhere, so that I could read it at every available opportunity.
Alice Hoffman writes great books and this is no exception. Great story.
I love this author, I like the way all her books have a magical touch to them.

This book was hard to put down. You really feel for the people in the book.
A lovely story and a fast read. I DO like this writer!
I am a huge Alice Hoffman fan and this book did not disappoint. Reading her books from newest to oldest seems kind of backward, but I can really see how she has grown over the years. She has honed her mystical approach to a subtlety that doesn't require it to be in every page. I really liked this book and felt a connection with basically all of the characters. The way that she brought Jessup back in to the story (and made a sympathetic character out of him) was no less than amazing. I went from wanting the earthquake to swallow him to being glad that he was back in Rae's life. It gives me hope that there are redemptive qualities in all of us. If you take this book on vacation be sure to take another...you wont put it down until you finish!
This looks pretty good- I have yet to read it.
