PI Lena Padget and her detective lover, Joel Mendez, work opposing sides of the same murder with devastating results for the investigation and for the relationship. Great plotting and very tight writing.

I just finished this last night and again, Hightower has written a fantastic tale. Tightly written, I read every word of this book. Normally I skip the descriptive stuff, but this one required my full attention - to keep up with the twists and turns. This author does great endings!@!!! I loved this book and can't wait to read more (I have read one other). Too bad she is not writing at this time!
