Ok, just had the poltergeist of the forums attack me again!  I went to a new genre forum I had never visited and opened a topic, read the first posting, read the 3 or 4 short replies after it, and then submitted my own reply. When I hit "submit topic" it suddenly shows 5 pages of replies and a totally different original posting.   yep, poltergeist ( I love it that I can even spell a German word!)

This week a similar problem happened to me several times in the "thoughts" forum--- I read thru what I think is an entire list of replies to a posting and add my post, then get pages of additional replies that happened before mine so that  any "answer" I provided an earlier poster  has already been answered several times so I look like a fruitcake repeating the same thing pages later.

Also, I find when there are more than 1600 people online, it's likely that while I'm typing any answer over 3 lines long, someone else will post faster and I end up saying the same thing because their post wasn't there yet when I read the replies. GRRRRR, frustrating!!!

OH, anyone else have this problem since the new profile features went into action???  When I get my "submit reply" or "post a new topic" window, it takes forever to wrap around to the next line as your'e typing, so you can only see part of what you're saying and have to go back and forth with the cursor or arrows to see your entire post. Then once you hit submit, it looks fine and I can read it easily!

I have not been having any problems with the forums. Can you tell us:

- do you have more than one browser window open to PBS at a time?

- what browser are you using?

- if you have Firefox or a recent version of IE, check your plug-ins or add-ons to see if there's anything installed that might possibly be interfering.

I have had the exact problem that the OP had -- open a thread, it seemed like there were a few posts, added mine, and then there were 5 pages of posts with mine at the end, where it belonged, except the subject had morphed along the way and now my post was totally irrelevant...I am not new to the forums! I know how to tell I am at the last post, and I felt totally stupid.

Running the most current version of Firefox, all plug-ins seem appropriate, only one brower window open to PBS...

Oh well, if I only looked stupid once I am still ahead of the game!

You can tell how many pages of postings there are before you submit your reply.   If you see that there are several pages, you can also click "Go to Last Post."   By doing that, you'll see whether your reply is still relevant, and can then decide whether or not to submit it.

And yes, I have recently experienced the wraparound problem.    My only solution to that is to make shorter paragraphs.  When the text gets to the end of what I can see, I hit "enter."   Not as elegant, but at least I can re-read what I've written.
