Obviously, someone at the end of her rope.
I'm not willing to accept books that have ANY mention of "Bookcrossings", either stickers or inked stamps. I'm tired of recieving books with up to 4 stickers on them. These stickers can be from 1-1/2 X 3 inches to 2-1/2 X 5 inches. These stickers can cover half of the front cover. I don't mind small price stickers, 'autographed' stickers, or store stamps inside book.

Thanks for sharing, it IS hilarious. I actually feel for the person, I can tell the RC was written in angst, but I think it's going to cause her a heckuvalotta turn-downs. Both from people who deny any and all RCs and people who deny long ones. Or maybe those who deny people who can't spell the word "guess." |

What Heather said It actually sounds familiar, I may have sent that member a book awhile back lol! |

I'm not a huge fan of RCS but that one is funny. I would accept if my book wasnt' book crossing. But I agree with Heather in that it might cause them some problems. |

She must be at the end of her rope - I do feel for her. I received one book from book crossing so far and they are really obnoxious and ugly. |

I think it's hilarious that she thinks a sticker "damages" a book and people are going to palm those damaged books off on her. They are perfectly acceptable here. I'm not a bookcrosser - but I wouldn't send her a book. |

Oh, I totally feel for the poster. This is a rant - pure and simple and I've been there. Not with this particular issue, but I've definitely got my own rants that sometimes well up. I accepted the request, btw. How could I not? This RC completely entertained me. |

Qualifies as one of the dumbest RCs ever written. Last Edited on: 9/13/09 12:01 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I love it. It's not as bad as some RCs I've seen and it was entertaining. I've only received one bookcrossing book, and I still have it. I wouldn't have any problem sending her a book. Pat |

That's funny! I had a recent one with a rant on books with writing in them, but it wasn't quite as entertaining. |

That is completely hilarious. Hey, at least it's not AT ALL subjective. |

That's too funny! Although I probably wouldn't send that member a book after reading it. Nothing like ranting through an RC at the member you're asking for a favor... |

Welcome Liz - RC is a Requestors Condition. People will use it if they do not want books that come from smoking homes, if they have pet allergies - they don't want books from a home with pets, or no book crossing books. There are some links discussing RCs and how they should be written. I will look for them and post them back here.
How to Write A Good RC -TomeTrader Here is some info from the help docs and here is the link (search RC) Requestor Conditions allow you to specify what kinds of books you are NOT willing to receive from other members. The specifications you write will appear verbatim on every request you submit. You can set your Requestor Conditions in your Account Settings, from the Settings tab in My Account.
I hope this helps
ETA: If you receive such a request that contains a RC - if your book doesn't meet it or you are unsure if you book meets the RC, then you can click on the button (This book does not meet the requestor's request). When I receive RCs I will only accept books I know 100% meet their request. Last Edited on: 9/13/09 12:56 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

RC = requestor conditions... So the person with RC is stating that she/he will only receive books meeting certain conditions. In this case, they do NOT want any books that are 'Bookcrossing' books. BookCrossing is a group whose members leave books in places like phone booths, bus stations, train stations, fast-food eating areas, etc., with a notice that the person who finds, and reads the book, can either keep it, pass it on and/or notify the Bookcrossing group that one of their books has been found and read (via internet -blog? or forum). I think the objective is just to encourage people to READ!! Some of the BookCrossing stickers are small and on one of the flyleaves are ok, but some are really large and when placed on the front cover, can be very offensive. I would not send to her even if my book met her conditions.

Leave it all alone in a public place? I just don't think I could do that to a good book...! :) D. |

Even with her bad spelling and/or typo I would send her a book if it met RCs, I know just how she feels. It has been eons since I've gotten a BC book, but I've gotten a few that were WAY over the top, with huge stickers on front and back covers, inside front cover, and one who, in addition to all that, wrote the BC ID # on the PBS wrapper section that's included with the book, hand-wrote the BC ID number on several pages in the book! That one was years ago though, before PBS had the RWAP system, otherwise I would've! And if I ever had an inclination to log the BC book on their website, that quashed it right there. thanks for the laugh. I feel kinda bad for her, as she's obviously very frustrated, and most likely this will kill a lot of requests for her. That said, I'd send her a book if it met that condition (which all of mine currently do). I don't like to give up a credit just because someone's RC may be considered 'poorly written.' |

I would send her any of my books. I know not all bookcrossers do it, but some definitely do go overboard-I have received a few. Good luck to her. |

I've only gotten maybe 2 Bookcrossing books out of the 700+ I've received, and both times the sticker was on the inside cover. |

I've received a couple, one much more obviously marked than the other. I don't care for them, and RC'd for awhile. The stickers made me feel guilty every time I glanced at the TBR, and finally swapped them away unread. They felt borrowed, and PBS is about book ownership.
