Book #2 of Asimov's original epic Foundation trilogy.
The Foundation hurtles into conflict with the decadent, decrepit First Empire. In this struggle for power amid the chaos of the stars, man stands at the threshold of a new, enlightened life which could easily be put aside for the old forces of barbarism.

#2 in the Foundation series. A must read for historians of science fiction. Asimov's imagination is wonderful. His knowledge of twentieth century politics and history comes out in these early Foundation books.
