This book wasn't as expected. I felt the book included too much information that didn't cover the man. I enjoyed reading about his time as general in the revolution, his treatment and freeing of his slaves. I thought the book was written in a strange manner without solid direction. His Presidency was discussed but little stuck with me.

Have been hunting good books on George Washington and this one has fit the bill. Organized into basically three sections: career, character and founding father. It allows the reader to explore the complexity and uniqueness of the man who is OUR Founding Father.

A quick and easy read with good footnotes that allow you to dig deeper if you so desire... and I do!

This book helps to organize your understanding of just how exceptional Washington was and how his precise decisions to withdraw from the presidency and public life allowed our republic to flourish.
