Gaylord, Grayling, Trilby, and Alan were all acquired by rescue, one at a time, and in that order. How they came to form a family group, and how their different personalities became more sharply defined as their relationship developed, are the subjects of this charming, sensitive, unique, and useful book.
"To the seeing eye and the hearing ear," says the author, "a well-loved cat offers much communication of crystalline clarity." In these pages, through words as vivid as her photographs, Mrs. Kytle faithfully records what her cats have told her. And she passes it along in a way that will enable you to know your own cat better and appreciate him or her ll the more.
Four Cats Make One Pride is considerably more than the story of Mrs. Kytle's particular "furred treasures." It is also a deeply humane statement and, by implication, an eloquent case for the rights of all animals in a man-made environment that is increasingly hostile. In Four Cats Make One Pride, words and pictures are joined to make a rare and resonant book--a book to read and pore over, to savor and share.
