I have a paperback version of Small Island by Andrea Levy (ISBN 0312424671). This is a wishlisted book (10 members wishing). None of the other versions (paperback, hardcover, or audio) are available in the club (some of the other versions are also wishlisted).
The book is unpostable because it has some water damage and wavy pages. The water damage does not affect the reading of the book (the pages did not stick together); it just made some of the pages wavy. The book also has very minimal highlighting (there is highlighting on 2 pages; 3 lines in one page and 1 line in the other). Other than that the book's in great condition.
First person who PM's me their address gets the book.
Book description:
Hortense Joseph arrives in London from Jamaica in 1948 with her life in her suitcase, her heart broken, her resolve intact. Her husband, Gilbert Joseph, returns from the war expecting to be received as a hero, but finds his status as a black man in Britain to be second class. His white landlady, Queenie, raised as a farmer's daughter, befriends Gilbert, and later Hortense, with innocence and courage, until the unexpected arrival of her husband, Bernard, who returns from combat with issues of his own to resolve.
