I have a small graphic art/decal business and like to slip a little decal and business card into the books I send as a little thank you to my swappers. I got to thinking maybe this might be against the rules so I wanted to double check to make sure it's o.k. Thanks!

You're right-- no advertising allowed with book swaps due to PO rules. I'm surprised no one has "turned you in" as that was a big discussion in the forums a few months ago. So, sorry, even though you want to reward the people you swap with, you're not allowed to include those things in media mail. |

If you send first class, it should be fine. I think it's just media mail where this is forbidden. I might be wrong. |

You would need to mail them all first class to include the graphic art, but the business cards are not only not allowed in media mail, they are not allowed by PBS rules at all (no advertising). Here is the Help Center doc: Can I include anything with my book?Generally: No.Media mail regulations are very strict: only media (books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes) and an invoice (page 2 of the PBS wrapper qualifies as an invoice) are allowed to be sent using Media Mail rate. No advertising, commercial solicitation, political materials, religious tracts, non-Media items, letters, cards are allowed.Last Edited on: 4/25/11 4:28 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
