I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with freebies. For example, in my notice I tell people to PM me with their choice of one of the following. If someone makes an order, and a few hours have passed since the order was placed, I assume that whoever placed it is not interested in one of the freebies I have to offer. If you have offered a similar deal, has anyone ever come back to you and said, thanks for filling my order, but I wanted this certain freebie from you as well? I think it would be silly if we were to PM everyone who placed an order with us and ask them if they want one of the freebies. It would take longer with waiting for responses and shipping it out, and also, if you don't have to send a freebie, it would also save you on shipping that time. Or should I just rewrite my Freebie offer altogether?

I don't PM people.  If they want the freebie they need to PM you with their choice when they make their order.  It's not your responsibility to pm everyone and offer them a freebie. If someone complains then send them a polite response saying that you had no PM from them requesting a freebie. If they wanted a freebie they should have requested one when they ordered your book.

How are you supposed to know this person ordered directly from you after seeing your offer and that is wasn't someone just ordering from FIFO?

I would just word it to say "Please PM me straight after you order from my shelf to request the freebie, or I will assume you do not want one"

I think most people would PM you about a freebie before placing the order just in case you no longer have it.

I wouldnt send it if they did not PM me. And I've not heard anyone complaining about that happening either.

I don't bother to PM people either.  I figure if they want the freebie, they'll PM me right away.  If they don't PM before the book goes out, that's not my fault if they later ask about the freebie.  I've never had anyone ask later about it though.

If I have offered my deal on the Book Bazaar I'll "watch" the topic and check back for responses as well as checking my personal messages.  If there's no request on either, I'll just send the single book out.
