Yet this industry eventually employed tens of thousands, from idle farmers in the winter to employment to seamen on American vessels, and to the "icemen" who delivered ice every day to iceboxes across America.

This book was fairly interesting. The history of the ice trade in the early to mid 1880s. Never even thought about how people back then got ice in warmer climates. Was a pretty quick and easy read, though all the excerpts from old papers and articles got a little old after awhile.
