Lyrical and gritty modern Western. Melancholy story of a man who lets life wash over him and fails to reach out and grab what he wants. Although he has a deep appreciation for his countryside and his friends he has remained apart from them all. Gorgeous language, a professional reader could have done a mite better in differentiating the youth's memories from the man's actions.

I had this book for over a year before I read it. Now I can't wait to read more of his books. Set in modern day Montana and Wyoming, it's part adventure and part love story. It's a good one.
