IT feems a fad conjunction in this day of a ftrange fecuri- ty moft are fallen into, when fuch unufal awakening pre- fages of judgment are, a crying voice from the Lord, but yet a deaf ear; how the awe and dread of light, which ufed to appear on men's confcience though otherwife haters thereof, is now fo far gone, as if the prefent age had found a new way to efcape the moft clear difcoveries of the truth, which was not formerly known; which too fadly prefages fome ftrange and aftonifhing ftrokes of judgment muft fpeak that, which with greateft contempt hath been rejected from the word; Oh that there might be an awakening to duty yet-fo- fore the decree bring forth, Zeph. ii. 2.
