Kind of hard to follow but interesting once you get into the story. I like Janet Daily but this book is really long.

Very involved read. I really enjoyed the historical aspects of this book. Just wish things could have been different. Hard to put down once I got past some parts. You will enjoy it.

"A wild romantic adventure...I couldn't put it down." - Patricia Bosworth, Working Woman
In her dazzling new bestseller, Janet Dailey captures the thrilling romance and awesome splendor of Alaska. The Great Alone begins with the love of a beautiful Indian woman for a noble, ambitious Cossack hunter. From their passionate union spring seven generations of native Alaskans-a proud mix of Russina, English, Indian and American blood. Filled with love and adventure, plunderers and heroes, The Great Alone is the spellbinding story of a dauntless breed determined to tame a wild and powerful land. It is Janet Dailey's crowning achievement.

I would rank this book as one of the top ten of the thousands that I have read. It is reminiscent of James Michener. Even at 700 plus pages, I was sad that it ended and hoped that Janet Dailey would write a sequel.
