I just finished Shot in the Heart by Mikal Gilmore.   WOW, an awesome book.  I was up until 2 am finishing it.  I didn't even know this book existed until a few months ago.  There weren't any copies here so I had to get off of Ebay.  The Gilmore's have to be one of the most dysfunctional families ever.  Unlike The Executioner's Song this book deals mainly with the parents histories and the all of the Gilmore boys histories and what led Gary Gilmore to face a firing squad in Utah.  A truly horrifying book.

Thanks for the recommendation. i just finished Executioner's song, and I wanted more of the family history that might have lead Gary to the life he led. I'm going to order it now!

I have this book. I need to read it soon, I guess!! I loved The Executioner's Song. Norman Mailer's best, IMO.
