If you've ever read one of the Prey novels before, you know what you're going to get. In this case predictability is a good thing. Sandford gives us evil villains, a couple likable victims, and Lucas Davenport as suave, efficient (and violent when necessary) as always.
The climatic shootout is pretty epic. As usual Sandford doesn't dwell much on what would surely be a massive investigation afterwards. There is an interesting bit at the end, will be nice to see what he does with it in the next book.
We get a bit more of Letty. She pulls a dumb move at one point but mostly learns her lesson. I think she might be edging into Too Stupid To Live territory - but this is a Lucas Davenport novel, I don't require total believability.
Good addition to the series. A new reader could start here and know what they need to about the characters.
