I was thinking about getting a Gazelle, i've seen a lot of mixed reviews on it.  Anyone used one and their opinions?

Also do you know the real difference between the gazelle edge and the gazelle freestyle?

all i can really see is a $100 price difference.  Thanks!

My roomate had a Gazelle and a women's gym I use to frequent had one as well - since we are talking a few years back I'm assuming it was the older one.

Honestly, it was just a contraption that you would swing your legs back and forth on and get your heart rate up.  It would be great for someone who had really bad knee problems and couldn't perform on an elliptical since there wasn't any knee bending/leg pumping.   I'm not sure if things have changed since then.

I wasn't too impressed.  Give me an elliptical any day.

I've had a gazelle. It was fun BUT I  moved on to an elliptical. You have to work twice as hard and twice as long on a gazelle as you do on teh elliptical.

I've had one for several years.    It's still fun & I use it occasionally, although I'm now more addicted to my Wii.   It's good if you're looking for something to just get moving.

I have the basic one (no resistance adjustment) I'm still overweight so I can get my heartrate up on it but I only use it every so often..you're just going back and forth with the legs and lemme tell you this - if your thighs rub together you will be miserable! I have a lot of dvds and do some outdoor walking so I mix a lot of my exercise up but the gazelle is do-able and I go faster on it sometimes..I wish it had resistance though to up the intensity. I've done it 'freestyle' while visiting with company, usually use one of tony's gazelle tapes, and also with a cardio coach download that had music and motivational talk. it's easy on the knees and very low impact..good for stretching too. it does take up some space though.

The gym I used to go to had a gazelle.  It was fun to use.  It does give you a nice stretch for the legs. I agree with the people above that the elliptical does give you a much better workout.  I have a stationary bike, but wish I had gone with an elliptical instead.

I LOVE mine.  It's an easy yet affective workout; lost 5 pounds in a week with that thing!
