Is anybody reading Gena Showalter right now? Or have you read any of hers? I am currently reading The Darkest Night. Book one in her Lords of the Underword Series. It is AWSOME. I started reading it last night and finally had to force myself to put it down at 3am. I was given this book by her when she came to the hotel I work at for a book signing and lecture with a few other authors. It is my first paranormal romance book and let me tell you I am hooked. I am alerady looking forward to getting the next two that came out.

Can anyone recomend any other authors that are just as interesting???

Try Catherine Warren, Eiline Wilks (sp?), and Nalini Singh.  All three have great series going and I find them just a engrossing as Showalter.  Check the sticky thread at the top of the boards for their series.  There is a whole list of great paranormal series as well as another list of upcoming books to put on your WL.  That could be why so many paranormal fans have maxed out their WL. (LOL)

BTW: I'm so jealous that you got to meet her.  I live in upstate NY and we never get to meet anyone here. LOL :)

I was so excited. I found out two days befor that we were going to have this signing and lecture in Wichita Falls, Tx of all places! . I cant remember at this moment what the main ladys name was but the others were Jill Monroe, Linda Goodnight, and while I had only heard of one of them I was like the biggest dork of the day!! Gena and Jill are the nicest and just her description of The Lords of the Underworld series maded me want to go out and buy so man was I excited when Gena, Linda and Jill all gave me signed copies.

I am so a GS and paranormal fan now!!

I've read The Darkest Night and have the following two in my TBR, and also "Awaken Me Darkly." I LOVED Darkest Night and can't wait to read the rest of the series :) I'm reading Marjorie M. Liu's "The Iron Hunt", and it's fantastic as well (her Dirk & Steele series is also very well-liked.) You may also want to check out "Stray" and "Rogue" by Rachel Vincent, they're great paranormals and kind of have a similar feel to Showalter's writing.

I just finished reading the second Lords of the Underworld series, The Darkest Kiss.  I LOVED it!  This is such a good series.  I can't wait to read Reyes book, The Darkest Pleasure.  I have it in my TBR pile.

Thanks for all the great advice on new books for me. Im looking forward to checking some of them out when I get my credits up. Nobody seems to want my sappy romances Im trying to get rid of. I am still going through others to see what Im willing to give up. Most of mine have been read so many times Im sure I will have to put them up as unpostables with order!

I read all three of them....got them each the day they came out.   I like most of her books, but they weren't keepers for me.

Love nearly everything I've read by Gena (except for "Playing with Fire").  I couldn't get into E. Wilks.  Have read one of Christine Warren's Others series but have the rest TBR.  I also recommend Alyssa Day's Warriors of Poseidon series (two out now, one forthcoming),  Allyson James' Dragon series (again, two out now, another due soon), and Lara Adrian's Breed series (four out now).

I read about Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series and a WL them. Boy am I glad I did. Got the first one and am hooked. Went out and bought #3 from Walmart although I think I will try and be patient for #2. I did not like her Alien huntress books so these were a good surprise for me. I would suggest Kresley Cole and Jacquelyn Frank as other authors in the genre to check out.

I have heard from several people that kresley Cole is pretty good. I think I am going to have to try her out next. I just finished Darkest night by Gena and I dont think I am going to be able to wait for the next two to pop up on my wish list. I will probably end up going out and buining them new!

I'm not sure if you knew this as I just found yesterday but there is an ebook prequel to her Dark series and you can download it for $2.79 or somethink like that at eharlequin.com. The only problem is if you are like me and don't have a reader, supposedly you can't print out the .pdf file. This type of .pdf file has a copy and print blocker on it so it has to be read on a reader. :(   Anyway, for those of you with readers or that like reading on a computer, it's there for the buying.
