Landing among the warring clans of the Irish hills, the Taelon scientist, Ma'el is in mortal danger until he meets a young warrior who will lay down his life for this mysterious stranger, and a druid priestess with uncanny insight. Together with the alien, these two set out on a journey that will take them around the planet and to a destiny greater than the humans can possibly imagine.
For Ma'el has come to judge Earth, and their travels will have consequences far into the future, consequences that will change both humanity and the Taelon race forever.
This book is that rare novel, a series tie-in which transcends its genre. It can stand alone as a work of science fiction by a very talented author. Drawing on his Irish background and a talent as a compelling story teller, James White has created rich and imaginative settings, then peopled them with a variety of fascinating characters. Since this will be the last James White novel, it is fitting that it is also one of his best.
