What do you guys think about doing a random genre of the month discussion where we pick one genre like.... historical fiction and then read whatever book appeals out of that genre and discuss the genre based on that book? |

K I'm gonna go with the genre list we have here at PBS and number them. I'll pick a random number using the random number generator at random.org (I love that thing) and that will be our genre of the month. Pick any book you'd like to read from that genre and we'll discuss the genre itself next month. How's that sound? |

K this is the list of genre's I'm gonna go with. I left out things like photography and outdoors because those don't seem like they would lend themselves to discussion.
And the random number generator spit out 12 so this month our genre discussion os about Romance. Last Edited on: 5/18/12 2:52 AM ET - Total times edited: 4 |

The last book I gave up on was a bodice ripper. Or rather, a kilt ripper. Note to self: don't pick out a Scottish romance What crappy accents they had! Last Edited on: 1/3/12 11:19 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

'Romance' covers a really wide spectrum. I always have to laugh when people assume romance = trash. Of course some truly are junk -- poorly written, unbelievable characters, witless, etc.. But, I've found that to be true of just about every genre I've ever read, including some nonfiction. Now, I have to say, when a written accent is crappy - that's BAD writing! lol
