This book changed my life! I was raised in the American Episcopal Church, and after I read this book, where the author tries to pull bits and pieces of documented history to reconstruct the life of the historical Jesus, I realized I could not remain a Christian in the conventional sense. However, I would have to say that being able to know and appreciate "Jesus Unplugged" has been much more beneficial to me than being in the Christmas-Easter Club and mouthing the words during Communion service and wondering what they really meant and if I should be saying them. The historical Jesus was an innovator, a civil rights activist, and a prophet; moreover, he was absolutely fearless when he chose to go to Jerusalem that fateful week. Without the pomp and ritual (and the "Christ" moniker, which came from the Greeks), he was still a great man and a martyr for truth and justice.

Good, but begs the question on any issues regarding the veracity of the gospel accounts of life and character of Jesus.
