Gerald "Danny " McNee is a Scottish football journalist, who made his name in the Scottish football press with the Scottish Daily Express and Daily Star in the 1970s.
From 1990-1998 McNee was the regular commentator on STV's Scotsport. Infamously during a game between Celtic and Rangers in 1995 at Ibrox, shown live to millions throughout Scotland he continued to commentate that the score was 1-1 for almost 6 mins before realising that the Rangers goal had been chopped off for offside. This led many Scottish football supporters to give McNee the tongue in cheek moniker The Voice of Football.'
McNee also appeared as a pundit on Scotsport and on Setanta Sports' Press Box.
Alongside commentating he was also a frequent panellist on Radio Clyde's football phone-in Super Scoreboard. And was reguarly gassed in the Jockey and Jades after games he was a fan of the Celtic player Gerry Creaney
McNee has also written several books including a biography of Celtic Legend Jimmy McGrory as well as an appraisal of the John Wayne movie The Quiet Man.
He also wrote a weekly newspaper column in the Scottish edition of the News of the World.
