Hi,

I have an unusual question. A few days ago I had printed out my pre-paid postage with delivery confirmation and went to retrieve the book on my shelf and I cannot locate the book. I have contacted the requestor and refunded her 1 credit because it was my fault. I know I should have waited till I got to the mail box or post office but I was sure of everything. This has never happened to me and I want to do the right thing. But the question is this : Is there a way to put this money spent on my part back to my postage paid account ? Just want to be able to use my money without it being lost.

Hi Dee Dee,

This is from the PBS Help Center:

  • If you cancel a transaction (or the system cancels the transaction if you did not mark the book mailed in time) after printing with postage, the postage and fees can't be refunded by PBS.  The funds are transmitted to USPS when you download the wrapper with the postage on it.  You could try taking the printed, unused wrapper to the PO and discussing this with them.    We have no mechanism to recover these funds from USPS ourselves, but individuals may be able to do so.

Just for future reference -   "If you have already marked the book mailed and now for some reason cannot send it, you should contact us to cancel it for you".  - also from the PBS Help Center.

    Hope this helps.

If you have the label, you might be able to get a refund from the PO minus 10%.  You'd have to take it in to a counter though.
