There are some children's books (specifically ones that go with the LeapFrog TAG reading system) that I'm wanting to put on my WL but, they are not in the PBS system.  I've done several searches for them but, they still do not show up, I know someone once mentioned a way to get them on here but, can't remember the directions...Help!!

978-1-59319-986-9

978-1-59319-926-5

978-1-59319-930-2

these are three of them...there are quite a few more but, I need to find the ISBN...

Thanks for any help

ETA:  figured it out...put my account on Vacation Hold, posted the books, put them on my Wishlist...deleted them off my shelf and then took my account off Vacation Hold...Now 3 are in the system and there was a 4th but, it was in the system and I've requested that one.

I've seen people saying that once they enter the ISBN#s into their TBR pile, they show up later in the system, but I've never had any luck with that myself.  I usually try an Amazon search and if they're in Amazon's database with the same ISBN#, I copy it and put it in the search bar here, & it usually comes up.  If it's not listed at Amazon, I end up waiting until it is:P

I just helped someone with this... it seems to take a bout 3-7 days but it will eventually be added.  I entered it into the Search field at the top of this page (also per the help docs).   Hope that helps.

I've put them in the search field at the top of the page (usually twice) and had them added within hours.  Good luck.

I remove the dashes.  Amazon always has dashes.  But they seem to slow PBS down.

I've never been able to get a search return here with the dashes in there.  Did you try taking them out?

Christy,

Can the books be used without the LeapFrog? They may not be postable books. I might check into that before posting them ... I know that books that come with media are supposed to include the media. So, if the book needs to be used with a Leapfrog, PBS may not want it to be posted here.

In any case, you can post books even if the ISBN is not in the PBS system. Just forget about searching it, and go directly ot the "Post Books" tab, and enter you ISBN. When PBS desn't find it in the database, it will present you with the "Book Data Edit" page where you fill in ALL of the information about the books including the bindng. I do this all the time if I am entering a book that I suspect will not be listed on Amazon (for example, since Amazon doesn't sell book club books, book club books with their own individual ISBN are not usually listed on Amazon until a used book seller lists it as a used book.).

If you go that route, double check all the info for spelling, etc.

Kim...they are listed on Amazon but, they only list the ASBN# and not the ISBN...all the books do have an ISBN and I've entered them in a search here without the dashes.

I did several searches for them yesterday in hopes they'd show up today but, I bet they won't since Amazon doesn't have the ISBN listed.

Sara...these are postable books here, they do not have "media" that comes with them...they are books that if you have the TAG reading system can be used with that but, are readable without that system.  Not sure if you are familiar with the TAG reading system but, it is great for tots and young readers as it is a very educational system.

The thing is is I'm not wanting to "post" them to send out I'm wanting them to be in the system so that I can add them to my Wishlist.

Have you searched by title in hopes someone listed them without a ISBN?  It is probably yes, but I thought it worth mentioning.

My kids are too old for the Leapfrog & Leap pad stuff anymore, so I'm no longer familiar with it.  But I think if they don't need supporting materials then they should be in the system - if they've been relased long enough for them to have gone into the system.  Then it's sort of the waiting game to catch them when they are in the databse & get on the WL.  Which of course, there won't be a WL if it hasn't been entered in there.  I'd try tptb or one of the book data folks & see what they say.  Maybe they can be entered, if none of the other little tricks like putting them on your TBR list works.  You might want to send a request to the Amazon folks & ask them to enter the ISBN#s too.  I've done that before and they took care of it, and the book I was looking for showed up here a day or two later.

Once I get all the information on the other 11 books I'll get that in the system...

Thanks Kim I contacted Amazon and we'll see if they will list the ISBN....they  have an ASBN listed but not the ISBN which is on the book.

If you want to WL books where the ISBN isn't in the PBS system yet, and they aren't or won't be listed on Amazon, and waiting a while after the first search hasn't pulled them in, then

its the same procedure that I outlined above, except you put yout bookshelf on hold first, post the books and fill out the data pages if needed, and then take them off your bookshelf, unhold your bookshelf, and then wish them.

I get myself to be #1 on the Wish List for a fair number of books by doing this

Cool!  Great tip, Sara.  I remember someone saying something about that before - it might have even been you:P - but the only one I could recall was the TBR thing.
