Hi everyone:

Is there any way to get a book off a wish list hold? I have one that I now want to give to a friend first and it has been on wish list hold for 3 days. I think it went from the first person and timed out and now went right to the next person on the WL. But I can't seem to delete it off my bookshelf and don't know how to end the WL hold. Any help on this one?

Thanks!

Marilyn

If you put your account on hold before it rolls over to the next person, it will go to your bookshelf and you can delete it, then take your account off Vacation hold.

You can put your account on hold. If the current wisher times out, it won't be offered to the next person. If the current wisher accepts the offer, you can cancel it afterwards.

There is no way to cancel it while it's on WL hold.

What everybody said up above.  Vacation hold can be found at the top of your bookshelf.  From the help center:

I posted a Wish Listed book I can't send!

If you Post a Wish Listed book you cannot send, the book will be involved in a pending offer immediately, and you will not be able to delete it from the system or cancel the offer until the Wishing member requests the book.

You should:

  • Wait for the book to be requested.
  • Decline the request if you cannot send the book by clicking
    • Doing this will remove the book from your account.
    • You will have a chance to explain what happened to the requestor when you decline the request.
  • To "speed up" the process (to prevent having to wait for a request if the first wisher(s) decline the offer of the book) you can put your account on Vacation Hold.
    • then, if the first wisher declines or does not accept the offer of the book, the book will go back onto your Bookshelf and you can delete it from there.  After deleting it, you can remove the Vacation Hold from your account.
