I know people are now starting vacations now that school is out, but this is getting out of control.  I posted Eclipse like 5 days ago and 3 people haven't bothered to respon if they want it or not.  it just keeps rolling to the next person.  I am currently waiting for the 3rd person to respond or not.  I just want to move the book on out and choose a new book :)

If there's one thing I have learned being on PBS, it's patience.  LOL  By wading through all the members that cancel or time out the order, you are helping weed out inactive members.

I know people are now starting vacations now that school is out, but this is getting out of control.

These are probably either abandoned accounts or people who went on vacation and didn't place their account on hold as they should have.

Other reasons could be

  •  They are out of credits and don't have the money to buy more right now
  •  They bought the book or someone gave it to them as a gfit and they forgot to take it off their WL.
  • Their email is down and they aren't getting notifications - and they don't check in all day like some of us. They may only check in when they get emails.

Jamie, you could post your book in the discussion threads.  IIRC Paranormal and Romance (does YA have a forum?) both have threads "is this on your wishlist", post your book there and ask for auto request...good chance your book will move the same day :-)

That happened to me...we lost our power, as did everyone in town, and I lost one WL book. I was so mad, and there was no place to go to use a computer.

Jamie, my maiden name is Nelson. It seems it would be an ordinary name, but I never hear it very often.

I have a related frustration. I mailed two books on the same day. One was received over two weeks ago. When the other one was never marked as received, I checked and the person is on vacation hold. I wonder how long they can remain that way...AND NOT CHECK IN MY BOOK!? Perhaps they are really in a very lucky position to have an extended vacation like that. I would HOPE that they aren't being remiss in turning off their hold though. I eventually bought credit so that I wouldn't lose out on a wish list book that was being offered me. tap-tap-tap Im getting impatient!

I got a very polite PM from someone I sent a book to ... saying that she was going on vacation and she couldn't mark any books received until after she gets back on June 8. She probably sent it out to everyone who is sending her books.

I thought it was nice of her to let me know ... at least I know not to expect to get the credit til she is back.

Jamie, look at it this way--you're doing your part to reduce that wishlist--the people at the end of the line are thanking you for being patient. LOL

Madeline, people put their accounts on 'vacation hold' for all kinds of reasons. I used to put my account on hold for weeks at a time because I was going through a financial crunch and didn't have money to mail books--but I had many credits saved up so had my wishlist autorequested and still got books. I still checked in to mark them received, I wasn't really "gone" just not sending books. Do you know for sure the person has received your book? Did you use delivery confirmation? Because books DO sometimes go lost or take longer to arrive. That's why the PBS system gives them 26 days or whatever it is. If she truly is gone and has not logged in for a long time, when your book gets declared lost in the system, the system will mark it received for you and you'll get your credit then.

Cheryl...I didn't get delivery confirmation. Guess I will from now on though! Lesson learned!
