I have had 3 different occasions this week where someone ordered a book from my shelf but it never appeared in My Account as an ordered book. I am doing a 3/1 special right now and I am wondering if it might have something to do with how the members looking at my bookshelf are actually ordering the books they want. I know that if you look at the details of a book, that you must click Back in order to go back to the specific bookshelf that you want to order from but I wonder if most users know that-especially new users. I found this fact out only after I ordered a book in error from a bookshelf other than the one I desired. Do you think this is an new user problem or do you think it is a bigger PBS problem? Is anyone else having difficulty getting orders that they know should be coming to their account? |

I know it can be very easy to order a book that goes through FIFO rather than a certain bookshelf. It is very easy to screw it up. It could very well be a new user problem. If their order was accepted by someone else, they could try PM the person and explaining that they are new and trying to order from a specific shelf and messed up and that person received the order and would they mind cancelling it. It never hurts to ask (although make sure you spell it out because I thought I screwed up one time and didn't word my PM correctly and the person was rather rude to me and wouldn't cancel the order) |

Even knowing how to do it, I have 2-3 times ordered FIFO instead of off the shelf. It is easy to forget where you are. Also I once had a PM order that didn't show up off my shelf until the next morning--even though the requestor had ordered before PMing. |

I'm glad I read this thread because I didn't think about that. When it goes to a general discription and you order from that it probably puts you to the 1st person who posted it-fifo. I hope I didn't do that w/a book I ordered from someone offering a deal yesterday. I don't think I did because the book was on my amazon wish list and so I knew what it was about already. |

Its a common mistake especially amoung new members. When I do a deal and have a supposed order coming in I check to see if its got the grey ! on it. It wont tell me who requested it but if I just got a message telling me so and so ordered it then its a good indicator that it was them. If its not there I ask them if they are sure they ordered from me and explain how to find out. That way they can cancel withing the hour buyers remorse period. |

Also, many people have taken to reminding others that they cannot be looking at the details when they click to order IN THEIR post for their special. Yeah, if you've ordered before you know this (especially if you did it wrong a time or too :) but if you always restate the need to be ON YOUR SHELF in your post with your deal, it helps the new people to learn, and the more experienced members to remember! hahahaha There's a trick I have been using since I first did this mistake. When you place your order you are asked if you want to return to the account page, or go to your own account. I always click to go to my own account so that I can click the PM button on the book that I just ordered and make sure the sender is who offered me the special. I also place the above paragraph in my deal post. |
