A wonderfully written book about a preppy I am everything to everyone girl, and a guy who is the male version of the ghost whisperer who is shunned and treated as a freak for his ability to talk to the dead. The story flowed nicely, switching views between Will and Alona. The story was also VERY believable in how the people were with their personalities and attitude etc. This author knows how to write a book about preps and goths and how the two act. Loved this book and cannot wait for the second book in the series.

Everything seems normal to Alona Dare the day she steps outside of gym class to make a quick phone call. But when she doesn't pay attention to where she is going, she gets hit by a school bus - and her days of ruling the school are over.

But when she keeps waking up in the place where she died, she knows something is wrong.

The only person who can hear her, besides the other dead people hanging around, is Will Killian, a guy she would never have thought twice about in her former life. Only Will wants nothing to do with the dead, including her. The dead make too much noise and want him to help with unresolved issues. Plus, he looks crazy talking to them.

But Alona wants his help to get to where she is supposed to be going. Working together, can they help each other?

This book had me from the very beginning. This was a mostly light (although there were a few darkish aspects), fun book. The writing had me laughing often.

Alona is the girl you want to hate. Selfish, bratty, and thinks she rules the school. But for some reason, I loved her. I loved her comments and her witty remarks. And Will wasn't bad, either. I felt bad for him and the way his therapist treated him.

I definitely liked the way the story ended. I think it wrapped up well and happy. And I can't wait to see what's going to happen next in the sequel, QUEEN OF THE DEAD. I'm hooked!
