FROM THE BACK OF THE BOOK:
When M.J. agrees to use her paranormal abilities on a new TV show called Haunted Possesions, she hopes her gift will not be exploited. Neither M.J. nor her fellow medium Heith realizes how much they'll need to sharpen their psychic skills when one of the objects---a knife---turns out to open a portal that releases a demon.

With a beast from the lower realms on the loose in the haunted hotel where she's staying, M.J. gets the point: She and her team of ghost hunters must find a way to give evil an early checkout before the demon carves through the hotel's guests like a knife through butter.

MY REVIEW:
This is the 3rd installment of Victoria Laurie's Ghost Hunter Mysteries. It it by far the best in the series. M.J. has agreed to go on a Tv show in San Fransisco to bust haunted items, like old tea pots and the like. As soon as she arrives at the hotel named "The Duke" (the worlds most haunted hotel) she comes across a fresh murder crime scene. Now she faces many ghosts inside the hotel, who turn out to be good for piecing clues together to solve the crime... as well as a knife that releases a demonic force inside the hotel. The owner decides to hire M.J. along with another medium named Heith (also hired for the show) to bust all the ghosts in the hotel.

This was definitely the most entertaining of the books so far. They just keep getting better and better. The plot was well thought out, with lots of action and ghosts. I didnt figure it out until the very last few pages. Its a very engaging story, and its difficult to put down.

-----We will all have to wait until March 2nd, 2010 for the next M.J. story, GHOULS GONE WILD where the crew gets offered their very own tv show, called Ghoul Getters; Where they will be traveling to Europe getting into who knows what kind of trouble.-----

I loved it! I've enjoyed this series from the beginning and this installment was fantastic. I liked the change in scenery, I liked the plot, the action, just about everything. I was a little disappointed by one aspect of the reveal, but the rest of it was so good, that I can totally overlook it. (I wanted to know more about someone that played a big part in the mystery. Don't worry, I won't spoil it for you!) There was a new character introduced that I liked very much. It sounds like the author has also found an interesting way to keep things moving with upcoming books. I can't wait for more in this series! :)

I loved it! It was one of those books that I had to stop periodically to tell anyone nearby how much I was enjoying it. Absolutely the best of the series so far. Full of suspense and creepiness yet it still feels fun and cozy. MJ and her friends are likable and crazy fun yet believable and the story is full of ghosts, demons, international intrigue...I can't wait for the next one!

Finally Laurie broke away from that whole Scooby Doo feel that these book have had in the past.

With business down, Gilley Gillespie decides to a add a bit of revenue by signing M.J. Holliday up as a psychic on the new Haunted Possessions show, filmed in a haunted hotel in San Francisco. All she has to do touch a family heirloom an tell a little something about the object. Easier said then done when a mysterious knife suddenly appears at the table and literally all hell breaks loose. Now not only the friendly spirits of the old hotel are coming to visit, but the very dark and very dangerous ones are making themselves known.

This book seems to be a bit darker then her previous ones, the actual murders and assaults are more descriptive and without the usual humor to off set them the feel is a bit heavier. Not to say that this book doesn't have humor. The interaction between M.J. and Gilley is and always has been very funny. I do hope that Heath, her co-psychic on the show, will make future appearances in this series, he is a very good balance to M.J.'s character without the whole sexual tension thing that writers seem to dwell on.

Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun is the third book in the Ghost Hunter Mystery Series. Very much in the psychic meets the TV series Ghost Hunters vein, which is a very interesting combination. Very different from her Psychic Eye books, but still just as good. If you are looking for a little bit more bite to you cozy mystery reading, check out this series.

M.J. Holliday has the gift of communicating with the other side. But when she appears on a TV show about haunted heirlooms, she learns a whole new meaning for the word "possessions." ROOMS WITH A BOO When M.J. agrees to use her paranormal abilities on a new TV show called Haunted Possessions, she hopes her gift will not be exploited. Neither M.J. nor her fellow medium Seth realizes how much they'll need to sharpen their psychic skills when one of the objects -- a knife -- turns out to open a portal that releases a demon.

With a beast from the lower realms on the loose in the haunted hotel where she's staying, M.J. gets the point: She and her team of ghost hunters must find a way to give evil an early checkout before the demon carves through the hotel's guests like a knife through butter.

MJ, Gilley and Steven go to San Francisco to work with other mediums on a soft of haunted Antique Roadshow. The trio is booked to stay at the Duke Hotel, the most haunted hotel in America. MJ steps straight into a murder before the team can check in. Enter Bernard Higgins, Angelica Demarche and Heath Whitefeather. MJ and Heath establish a bond and work together to fight an evil haunting. Very good installment in the series. 4.5 stars

this was another cute cozy from Laurie, but it did have some unresolved parts in it.
M.J. and gilley are going to a television shoot about the paranormal. Things start getting dicey when someone sneaks in a dagger that is hounted with a demon.
Things go from bad to worse, as bodies and ghosts sart piling up.
M.J. meets another psychic and Heath start investigating and get in over their heads with haunted mirrors and daggers.
The only thin I did not like was some of the story was unresolved with the mirrors. Did M.J. help the ghost in the mirror?? May be that is for another book.

Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun finds MJ, Gilley, and Stephen back on the prowl for ghosties and things that go bump in the night--this time in California.

The introduction of Heath, a fellow medium, adds a nice stir to the mix as well. The relationship between MJ and Stephen doesn't advance much in this installment, but it seems as strong as ever as it plays out in the background. The atmosphere is creepy, though I found the pace of the action to not be as quick. I also felt the ultimate solution to the murders came a bit out of nowhere; while I didn't guess ahead of time who the culprit was, I was let down by the revelation. Still, I did enjoy my time spent with MJ and the gang, and will be picking up the next in the series.

I think this has been the best book so far in the series. We're finally veering away for the cartoonish silliness and getting into a great paranormal murder mystery. The series gains a new great character that from the sounds of it will be in the rest of the series. As with the other two, this was a fun quick read.

I thought this was the strongest of the Ghost Hunter series. I loved the concept and the story was just fun to read. My only complaint was the ending was a little weak with a factor of the conclusion coming out of nowhere. Other than that it was a great read and I look forward to Book 4.
